Training
The medical field contains a broad range of academic education other than MBBS. It includes certificate courses, medical diploma courses, bachelor’s degree courses, master’s degree courses and many short time knowledge booster courses for medical professionals.
The Leprosy Mission Hospital is building a patient-centered and inter-professional training program with patients, students, and care professionals in the field of Leprosy. Many short-term orientation programs are available as per the needs of the participants for professionals and students from a various medical and allied health background.
Following are some formal and informal training which are being conducted in TLM Shahdara Hospital:
- Orientation in clinical aspects of Leprosy for Nursing Professional. (Duration 4 Hours)
- Course on Rehabilitation aspects of Leprosy: for UG students of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. (Duration 4 hours daily for 24 days.)
- Dressing and wound care for Nursing Professionals: Onsite training. (Duration 2 weeks duration)
- Orthosis and Splint fabrication for Professionals from Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy. (Duration two weeks duration)
- Clinical Orientation and Training in Leprosy for Medical and Ayush professionals. (Duration one week.)
- Training of Lab Technician in Slit skin Smear for Lepra Bacilli.
Every year more than 500 Nursing students from various Nursing colleges in and around Delhi participate in an orientation program on clinical aspects of Leprosy. Further, more than 200 students of Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy join the Rehabilitation aspects of Leprosy course every year.
